When looking for a web hosting plan- do you really need to look for a plan that would offer you so much disk space?
As a web hosting client before as well, my unsolicited opinion is- please don’t! I have come across companies offering unlimited disk space in their plans but when you read through their terms of service they have explicit limitations stated in there (whether it is a limit of the number of files or inodes or that they would be charging for excess usage of disk space). So technically it is not unlimited at all. I even come across one that offers such but when you look at the cpanel of your hosting plan it is stated there that their machine is just an i686 or P4.
We at greatwebhost.com.ph offers you top of the line hardware of at least an 8 Core Processor (Dual Quad Core) connected through one of the fastest internet backbone in the planet. While we may not be able to offer much disk space- you can be sure that you can install the web applications that you really want because our softwares are updated yet very much stable. And to put it in perspective- 300mb would definitely be enough for a simple blog- a popular blog website that I know of is not using two thirds of that. That should be enough for a starter web host plan. (Of course we also offer plans with bigger disk space.)
Things you should consider when buying a plan on top of my head right now-
- Is their hosting reliable and secure? Would it be up 99.9% of the time?
- Would it let me use my preferred web application’s latest stable release ie updated stable software?
- Is your host offerring decent hardware specs? Is your hosting fast?
These are just quite a few things to look out for better than looking for a big big disk space. But a lot of hosts would already fail from this criteria no matter what they say on the contrary.
